The Coalition for Responsible Retailing originally created We Card because they understood that tobacco
sales were a big part of retailers’ everyday lives, and that retailers
needed help training their employees to prevent the underage sale of
tobacco. They understood that if they created one single program with
one strong message, then retailers would have an easier time
identifying and rejecting underage tobacco purchase attempts.
And from all accounts, they were right. In fact, 17 years later, We
Card has become one of the most widely accepted retail training and education
programs to help retailers prevent underage tobacco sales. It has trained over 296,000 retail owners,
managers and employees either online or in one of more than 2,100 classroom training sessions.
